AUSTIN PARKS #44 STRONG, INC
Austin Parks # 44 STRONG, Inc is a non-profit organization started by Melissa Parks in the fond memory of her late son, Austin Parks, who passed away following a long and hard battle with cancer.
The goal of the Austin Parks #44 STRONG, Inc Nonprofit organization is to give back to the Children’s Hospital in Augusta, Ga and the community that played a vital role in supporting the family throughout Austin's journey.
Austin Parks was a wise and humble young and was known in the community for his caring heart. He became a football player very early in his life, and desired to continue the Parks legacy by wearing the #44 that his dad wore during his high school years. After playing football during his senior year in high school, Austin began having various health problems and with only four weeks left in his senior year, Austin was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer affecting the soft and connective tissues. Although he was taking treatments, Austin was determined to graduate with his class in 2016.
After a year of treatment, Austin was successful in his initial battle and was excited to join his classmates in college in the fall of 2017. After a brief stay at college, the cancer resurfaced, and Austin eventually gained his wings. The #44 remains a very special number in the Parks household and the Lincoln County community.
